Earlier this week Fremont Health Medical Center announced an expansion to their medical team with the addition of six new physicians to the staff.
“We’re excited to expand our medical staff with these new physicians,” Brett Richmond, Senior Vice President and CEO for Fremont Health, said. “They are all very accomplished and a great addition to the incredibly talented physicians already in our community.”
Two new additions are to the Fremont Health Family Care team with Todd Eberle, DO, and Sarah Grauman, MD, joining the staff.
Dr. Grauman earned her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, where she also completed her residency.
“I am from Omaha and have been there my entire life, I kind of think of Fremont as a suburb in a way,” Grauman said. “I looked at all options in Omaha and surrounding and Fremont was kind of that place that is very personable, smaller than a lot of the bigger health organizations around and I was drawn to that.”
Grauman attended Skutt Catholic High School and received her undergraduate degree from College of Saint Mary in Omaha.
Part of her passion for family medicine comes from the comprehensive care she can provide people, whether they are infants or octogenarians.
“Just being able to take care of an entire family and get to know pretty much everybody I think that is one of the great and unique aspects of family medicine,” Grauman said. “I love family medicine because I love taking care of infants to the geriatric population. A large part of our training is on children so I would like to see that continue here, I am hoping more kids come to the practice.”
For Todd Eberle, who grew up in David City and graduated from David City High School, Fremont was already like home before he moved back with his wife and young daughter for the position.
“My grandparents have lived in Fremont for 60 years, and with my family in David City and our new little one we figured it would be better to be close to everyone we knew,” Eberle said.
Eberle received his medical degree from Des Moines University Osteopathic School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at Mercy Family Medicine in Des Moines.
“When I went out to Des Moines University I was thinking about hematology and oncology for a while and eventually decided on family medicine because of the diversity and a little bit more of a challenge,” Eberle said. “Also you get to relate to patients a little bit more that way too.”
For Eberle, the ability of Fremont Health to provide a continuity of care has already been a positive as he settles into his new position.
“It’s been nice because any patients I meet here, I am also doing their inpatient work and following them in the hospital,” he said. “Which goes along with that continuity of care that really makes a difference.”
Along with Grauman and Eberle, Jason Dinsmoor, MD, also joined Fremont Health as an internal medicine physician.
Dinsmoor earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he also completed his residency.
“With the complex and ever-changing landscape of healthcare, it’s become increasingly important for people to have a primary care provider to help coordinate their care, so the addition of Drs. Eberle, Grauman and Dinsmoor help ensure there are enough providers in our area to meet that need,” Richmond said.
Fremont Health also added John Franzen, MD, to the behavioral health unit.
Franzen is a board certified psychiatrist who graduated from UNMC and completed his psychiatry residencies at the University of Hawaii-Honolulu and Creighton University.
“I am excited to be providing quality services to folks with mental health and addiction related issues in the area and just being able to serve that community and provide support to folks who need it,” Franzen said.
Franzen grew up near Hastings and graduated from Adams Central High School, is excited to join the behavioral health team at Fremont Health.
“I’m just hoping to be a part of the team and a piece of the puzzle,” he said. “I’ve been very impressed with what I have seen so far and it has been a lot of fun.”
The health facility also added Chris Gartin, MD, to the Fremont Health Surgical Group. Gratin completed medical school at UNMC and his residency at the University of Kansas in Wichita. Gratin has strong training in minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery.
Pediatric Partners also has a new addition with Pediatrician Erin Schmitz, MD, joining the staff. Schmitz earned her medical degree from UNMC, where she also completed her pediatric residency. She has a special interest in sports medicine and obesity in children, as well as proper support for breastfeeding mothers.
“We’re also committed to making sure specialty care is accessible to the people in the communities we serve, and we’re fortunate to have physicians in nearly every specialty on the medical staff at Fremont Health Medical Center,” Richmond said.
