Cass County Nebraska Economic Development Council (CCNEDC) held its 2013 Annual Meeting May 15 at Cass County Fairground Expo Center, in Weeping Water.
John Yochum, CCNEDC Executive Director, highlighted many exciting business activities that are occurring throughout Cass County. Over 100 area business professionals attended the event.
Two local companies were recognized with CCNEDC’s 2013 Business Recognition Awards for their commitment to innovation, progress, and investment in our area. The companies are Meeske Hardware, Inc. and KZCO, Inc.
Meeske Hardware Inc. –
Located in Weeping Water, Meeske Hardware was awarded the 2013 Small Business Recognition Award. The company has operated in Cass County for 74 years, and is managed by brothers Gayle & Tom Meeske. The main location is at 214 W. Eldora Ave. They have a good understanding of what their customer needs when it comes to tools, hardware, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, farm need, lawn care, or other home improvement items! Their family-friendly service is unmatched in today’s big retail world. And their genuine relationships hold solid value to their many customers in Cass County and surrounding communities.
KZCO, inc. –
KZCO, inc., in Greenwood was awarded the 2013 Large Business Recognition Award. The company was founded in 1976 by Keith and Kevin Ziegenbein, along with Keith’s wife Ardith. They manufacture electronically actuated valves for agriculture sprayer controls at their facility at 2380 KZ Parkway, just north of Interstate 80 and the Greenwood Interchange (exit 420). The company’s products are also designed and used in many other technology and industrial applications. Their Cass County location allows for excellent logistics and distribution to their customers across the United States. The production, engineering, and sales operations employ more than 55 people.
CCNEDC Board Chairperson Jane McDaniel said, “Businesses in Cass County are innovative in many ways. We are pleased to highlight these companies and their long history of growth in our area. These business owners show that Cass County is a wonderful place to grow a business.”
Cass County Economic Development Council began recognizing quality businesses in the area back in 2009. The Business Awards are given to companies that have demonstrated innovation & progress in their industry, and have also been integral to Cass County’s growth. The economic development council wanted to have a way to thank area companies for their ongoing investment and job creation that benefits local communities and the residents who live here.
