A community is made up of many parts including volunteer organizations such as the Plattsmouth Kiwanis Club.
“Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis Club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage nearly 150,000 service projects and raise nearly $100 million every year for communities, families and projects”.
Their ultimate goal: to change the world one child and one community at a time.
I mention them because the Plattsmouth Club has ceased to function due to steady membership decline. But true to their mission, as a last hurrah, area children participated their annual Plattsmouth Kiwanis sponsored Easter Egg Hunt --complete with the Easter Bunny -- at Rhylander Park Saturday. That is community action at its best. I am certain this club will be remembered by the hundreds of our kids who, over the years, have benefited because our Kiwanians cared. Thank you for all you have done.
The Fifth Annual Motorcycles-On-Main is 4-9 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in downtown Plattsmouth. We anticipate at least 400 bikers and many of them with passengers. Live music is on the Entertainment Plaza from 7-10 p.m. featuring the Shadow Ridge Band. Bring your friends and your dancing shoes.
The next quarterly Main Street Business Summit is 5:30 p.m., Sunday, April 14, at the Plattsmouth State Bank Community Room. All Association members and interested community members are encouraged to bring a “pot luck” food item and join in the planning for downtown activities for this year.
Past Summits have been very enlightening and positive results are in place. We need and want your input - don’t miss this one!! Drinks provided.
Planning is nearly completed for Destination Plattsmouth 2013 musical summer activities on Friday and Saturday evenings at the Entertainment Plaza. Organizations or individuals who would like to schedule an event at the Plaza should call 402-296-5544 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with your information. This is a public event location and is a great place to meet your friends.
The downtown Farmer’s Market will be at the Entertainment Plaza beginning in May. Sales were record-setting last year so interested parties should contact 402.296.5544 or email email@example.com. Non-farming crafts vendors are welcome. Events are normally Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Friday evening meals with special menu items started for a short time at Cafe Fivethirtyfour, 534 Main St.
