GRETNA – Gretna showcased its scoring strength Tuesday during a conference baseball tournament contest against Plattsmouth.
The second-seeded Dragons advanced to the Eastern Midlands Conference Tournament semifinals with a 12-2 triumph. Gretna (4-3) crossed the plate seven times in the first inning and added a pair of runs in both the second and third frames. The team ended action with a solo run in the bottom of the fifth against PHS (1-7).
Blake Grimm paced Gretna’s attack with two hits and four runs batted in. Quinn Mason had three hits and three RBI and Caden Opfer chipped in a pair of RBI. The Dragons surpassed the ten-run mark for the third time this season.
Nathan Konkler guided Plattsmouth’s offense with one single, one run and one sacrifice bunt. Tucker Anderson had one walk, one sacrifice fly and one RBI and Luke Setlak drove in one run. Chris Lira walked and scored once and Kirkland Haswell posted one single.
Plattsmouth is scheduled to resume its season Monday with a trip to Valparaiso. The Blue Devils will take on Branched Oak at 4:30 p.m. The Branched Oak program features students from Raymond Central and Malcolm.
