YUTAN – Conestoga picked up a key road victory Monday night with a conference triumph over Yutan/Mead.

CHS took down the Patriots 5-1 in a softball game held at Yutan’s Hayes Field. The Cougars made the most of their ability to put the ball into play. Conestoga finished with four hits and took advantage of four Yutan/Mead errors.

Bri Poteet helped the Cougars (15-4) with one hit and three runs batted in. Becca Simpson posted one hit and one RBI and Madi Hobscheidt generated two walks and one RBI. Courtney Wagner chipped in one hit and one walk for the team.

Megan Poteet and Reagan Ruffner limited Yutan/Mead (8-6) to one hit during the evening. Poteet collected five strikeouts in five innings and Ruffner had one strikeout in two innings.

The Cougars will travel to Auburn tonight for a conference matchup. The teams are scheduled to begin their game at 6:30 p.m.
