PLATTEVIEW – Louisville girls and boys teams traveled to Platteview on Saturday for an afternoon of basketball with the Trojans.

Platteview 66, Louisville girls 40

Platteview seized full control of the contest in the opening quarter. The team began the game with a 22-2 run and remained ahead the rest of the way. Halle Johnson led the Trojans with 21 points and University of Pittsburgh volleyball recruit Sabrina Starks tallied 12 points and ten rebounds. Creighton basketball recruit Payton Brotzki added 11 points, nine rebounds, eight steals, seven assists and one block.

Meagan Mackling (15) and Maia Johnson (11) each scored in double figures for Louisville. Mackling chipped in four rebounds, four steals and one assist and Johnson generated six rebounds, three steals and one pass deflection.

Jordan Winkler finished with three points, four assists, four steals and two pass deflections. Avery Heard posted six points, six boards, one block and one steal, and Julie Katz produced two points, two rebounds and two steals. Olivia Zahn had three points and one board, McKenzie Norris made one assist and Katie Kerans had one rebound and one steal. Faye Jacobsen added two pass deflections and Maddy Sladky saw court time for the team.

Platteview put its powerful offense to work in the second game of the day. Eight Trojans entered the scoring column and the team shot 55 percent from the field. University of Nebraska-Lincoln recruit Brady Heiman led the team’s attack with 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He also produced 13 rebounds, five blocks, three steals and two assists.

Brady Geise helped Louisville with 14 points, three steals and one rebound. Hunter Klein posted 12 points and two assists and Jared Hrabik had three points, four rebounds and one steal. Chase Cosgrove contributed three rebounds and one block and Jake Renner scored two points.

Alec Terry tallied one rebound, one assist, two steals and two pass deflections. Jaden Maxey made one steal, Doug Euans took one charge and Quinn Wolcott posted three boards and one steal. Jaren Powell grabbed four rebounds, Conner Buettner made one rebound and Caleb Hrabik had one steal.
