LOUISVILLE – The Louisville volleyball team finished the 2017 season with a 14-18 record. Jade Biesterfeld, Faye Jacobsen, Avery Heard, Cassidy Niemoth, Olivia Zahn, Skyler Pollock, McKenzie Norris, Maddy Nolte and Emma Hiatt all saw action in varsity matches.
Louisville took 2,381 attacks during the year and collected 683 kills. The Lions finished the campaign with a .169 team hitting percentage.
Heard guided Louisville’s offense with 263 kills on 774 swings. Jacobsen posted 217 kills on 600 attempts and Biesterfeld generated 104 kills on 495 attacks. Niemoth (58), Zahn (21) and Norris (19) added kills for LHS.
Zahn tallied 546 of the team’s 605 assists. Norris (27), Jacobsen (9), Heard (8), Niemoth (8) and Biesterfeld (7) chipped in assists for the Lions.
Louisville made 1,173 digs and 23 ace blocks during the year. The team averaged 36.7 digs per match.
Niemoth led Louisville with 260 digs. Jacobsen (201), Norris (186), Biesterfeld (177), Heard (173), Zahn (162), Pollock (9) and Hiatt (5) added digs for the team.
Heard finished the campaign with 12 ace blocks. Jacobsen (10) and Biesterfeld (1) also registered ace blocks.
Louisville took 1,602 serves and compiled a .908 team serving percentage this fall. The Lions collected 130 aces.
Norris helped Louisville with 20 aces and a .960 serving percentage (267-of-278). Niemoth posted 34 aces and a .939 serving percentage (295-of-314), and Heard carded 21 aces and a .911 serving percentage (246-of-270).
Biesterfeld collected 16 aces and an .899 serving percentage (222-of-247). Zahn tallied 19 aces and had an .879 serving percentage (188-of-214), and Jacobsen made 18 aces and had an .853 serving percentage (221-of-259). Hiatt collected two aces on 11 serves, Pollock took eight serves and Nolte took one serve.
