MALCOLM – The Conestoga girls squared off against one of the top teams in the state Tuesday night during a conference trip to Malcolm.

The Clippers, ranked fourth in Class C-1, defended their home court with a 64-34 victory. Malcolm used its speed and height to generate an effective offense throughout the evening. The team reached double digits in three of four quarters and drained 23 field goals. Malcolm also grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and committed just five turnovers.

Sierra Kile guided Conestoga’s offense with 16 points. She drained four 3-pointers and added six rebounds and one steal. Sophia Svanda posted seven points, four boards and one block, and Gloria Izquierdo had five points, six assists, one block, one steal and one rebound.

Autumn Hardesty chipped in three points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal for the Cougars. Hannah Vogler scored three points, Courtney Wagner grabbed four rebounds and Anna Raisanen had three rebounds. Sierra Dragoo made one rebound and one assist, Maddy Schwindt posted one steal and Ellie Sachs hauled in one rebound.

Conestoga will resume its season this week with a pair of home games. The team will host Nebraska City at 6 p.m. Thursday and will take on Freeman at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
