Maxine Barnhill will be celebrating her 90th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 24, at The Presbyterian Church on Linden and Nye. The coffee and cake reception will take place about 11:30 a.m. after the conclusion of the second church service.
She and her husband, Rodney, are inviting her friends to attend. Maxine Barnhill was born on a farm west of Weston on Sept. 23, 1927. She moved to Fremont in 1950 and has lived here since then. She worked for Hormel Foods Company and the Mead Ordnance Plant until she graduated from Midland University.
In 1970 she earned her master’s degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She taught 37 years in the Fremont Public School System before retiring. She also taught in country schools before moving to Fremont.
The reception is being hosted by her son, Robert Krafka, and her grandchildren.
