Chester M. Bell, 69, of Fremont died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in Fremont.
Chester was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Chester and Dorothy (Hendrix) Bell. He attended high school in Iowa City and graduated in 1961. After high school, Chester moved to Fremont and graduated in 1965 from Midland Lutheran College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He owned and operated Bell Bookkeeping and Tax Service in downtown Fremont.
Chester married Mary Ellen Umland on Jan. 2, 1988, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Bluffs.
He was a member, elder and treasurer of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Bluffs. He was a member of the Elkhorn Valley Good Sams Camping Club, past president of Fremont Area Service Club, member of Pheasants Forever and Partner Swappers Inc. Chester enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, and collector of all sorts of things.
Chester is survived by his wife, Mary Bell of Fremont; mother, Dorothy Bell of Fremont; daughters, Kristy (and husband, Jeff) Blatchford of Omaha, Amy Lockhart of Spring Hill, Fla., Becky (and husband, Phillip) Priel of Bennet, Diana (and husband, Dan) Mecham of Eaton Rapids, Mich., Catherine (and husband, Brian) Smith of Plano, Texas, and Lisa (and husband, Tim) Roberson of Lincoln; and 13 grandchildren.
Chester was preceded in death by his father, Chester Bell.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Bluffs with the Rev. Brian Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and will continue one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church.
