With the first day of school year right around the corner, many parents and students are gearing up with new backpacks, binders, pencils, paper and all the other supplies necessary for the year ahead.
Along with back-to-school shopping trips, area students will also have the opportunity to get crafty and create some school supplies of their own at Keene Memorial Library on August 15th.
Keene Memorial Library invites youth of all ages to get crafty at the Back-To-School Craft Time from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday in the large meeting room.
“We have crafts for a variety of ages so we encourage everybody to come join us,” Jess Hill, Library Assistant at Keene Memorial Library, said.
Activities will include DIY pencil toppers, friendship bracelets, pencil cookies, a selfie station and a craft inspired by children’s book, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus,” by Mo Willems.
“It is a great back-to-school book, it is really funny and has simple text,” Hill said. “The bus driver leaves the kids in charge of not letting the pigeon drive the bus so it’s just kind of a fun book and the writer has an entire series that involves pigeons.”
The event will offer fun for youth of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. It is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
“With some of the crafts we are trying to appeal to some of the older kids, we usually have a younger audience which we are always happy about, but we do want to start trying to include some of the older kids as well so we have a few crafts that will hopefully appeal to them,” Hill said.
