A fish fry will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at Fremont Airboat Club, 3159 Big Island Road. This is a 21-and-over event. Those attending may bring their own refreshments.

Tickets can be purchased from any Fremont Airboat member or by contacting Jim Johnstone (president) at 402-720-3117.

The Fremont Airboat Club LLC is a nonprofit club that was organized in the 1960s. The club helps the Natural Resource District for studies of wildlife migration, bank erosion and danger spots on the river.

Club members assist fire and rescue personnel with emergencies on the river, whether a drowning or boating accident or during floods. Many times they use the club grounds as a central command post.

Fremont Airboat Club also is working with the University of Nebraska on research of catfish, sturgeon fish in the Platte River, their condition, growth, stress levels and overall health for the last six or seven years during the warm months of each year.

The club has fundraisers twice a year to help with operating expenses. There is typically a wild game feed in February and a catfish feed in June.
