The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety for overtime traffic enforcement in conjunction with the nationwide “You Drink & Drive. You Lose” crackdown. The grant period was from Dec. 15, 2017, through Jan. 1, 2018. Fourteen Dodge County deputies participated and worked a total of 168 overtime hours. The following arrests and citations were issued during the grant period, including the checkpoint: Driving under the influence, 9; driving under suspension/revocation, 10; minor in possession of alcohol, 12; open alcohol container, 4; violation of safety belt law, 13; violation of child passenger safety law, 5; narcotics possession, 27; no proof of insurance, 10; speeding, 44; felony arrests, 4; fugitives apprehended, 4; total citations, 135; total vehicles contacted, 323.
