A 17-year-old boy was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol after allegedly causing an accident late Friday evening, Fremont Police reported.
Officers were dispatched at 11:30 p.m. to the 1700 block of North Broad Street in regard to a personal injury accident.
A 2005 Audi being driven by the minor allegedly crossed the center line, striking another vehicle before crashing into a tree, police said. The driver of the struck vehicle was uninjured.
The minor driver complained of head pain and was transferred to Fremont Health Medical Center. After being removed from his vehicle, police say an empty beer bottle was located.
Because the 17 year old showed signs of impairment, a preliminary breath test was administered, which he failed.
The boy was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, being a minor in possession of alcohol and driving without a valid operators license.
