Area residents can get a VIP experience Thursday night, but it doesn't involve going to a club.
The Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation is hosting "A D'Vine Affair" wine tasting event Thursday night at Fremont Opera House.
A Patrons Party for table hosts and underwriters will start at 5:30 p.m. and other guests will be admitted at 6:30 p.m.
The VIP (Very Impressive Pours) Room will allow people - for an additional price - to sample higher-end and more expensive wines, FAMC Foundation Director Kim Cuda said.
"We've had some of our guests in the past that have expressed some interest in wanting to try some wines that they normally wouldn't get to try locally," Cuda said.
Along with the wine tasting, Cuda said there also will be hors d'oeuvres and a live auction featuring such things as Nebraska football tickets, trips, dinners and landscaping services.
Entertainment will be provided by former Broadway entertainer Steve Fowler, who now lives in Omaha.
There also will be presentations from FAMC staff members about the hospital's facilities and offerings.
"We try to make it a fun evening and an educational evening as well," Cuda said.
Wine experts and professionals from Denny's Liquor in Fremont and Republic Distribution will be on hand to offer tips on the different wines. Guests also can purchase wine to drink at their tables or to take home.
"Whether you're a wine aficionado and really enjoy tasting different wines or whether you're new to wines and want to learn a little more it will be a great opportunity," Cuda said.
Tickets for the event are $750 for a Patrons Table of eight guests that includes access to the VIP Room and a reserved table, $75 for VIP tickets that include reserved seating and $50 for regular tickets.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the development of a cancer resource center at FAMC that Cuda said will benefit oncology patients and their families.
