Dave was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, July 23, 1934, to Frank and Freda (Peak) Jackson, the youngest of nine children. He graduated from Elm Valley High School, Ashley, Ohio, and studied agriculture at the University of New Mexico and University of Maryland.
He served five years in the U.S. Army in the Field Artillery Battalion in Germany, rising to the rank of staff sergeant.
He was in the construction management business most of his life – building farm systems, residential, and industrial buildings as well as restorations. Lastly he was the building inspector for Candlewood Lake in Mt. Gilead, Ohio.
Dave was a founding member of Habitat for Humanity of Delaware County and served as construction manager of over 30 homes for Habitat for Humanity in Delaware and Morrow Counties for 26 years.
Dave was president of the Delaware Lions Club and received the 1992 Lion of the Year award. Currently he is a member of the Deer Valley Lions Club. Dave was a 60-year member and past Worshipful Master of Ashley Masonic Lodge, F. & A.M., Ashley, Ohio. He was an active member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus, Ohio, and Aladdin Shriners.
Chairman of the Morrow County Airport Commission, Dave was an avid pilot with commercial and multi-engine licenses and accrued 2,500 hours of flight time. He was a lifelong member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a Competent Toastmaster and a member of William Street Church, Delaware, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marianne White Jackson; and by four sisters, Neva, Marion (Bill) Martha (Cricket), Betty; and four brothers, James, Frank Jr. (Red), Kenneth, John.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Myrna Paul; and four children, Diane Jackson Hock (Cliff Rose), Dorothy Jackson (Jay) Kern, Bradley (Julie) Paul, Andrew (Ewa) Paul; eight grandchildren, John Hock, Savannaha Kern, John Kern, Kyle Kern (Dalena Mensik), Maya Paul, Zoe Paul, Milena Paul, and Gabriel Paul; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
