Work is under way on the Luther Road paving project from one block north of 23rd Street to the U.S. Highway 30-275 bypass.

The south end of the project, from where the pavement ends near the Sid Dillon car dealership north to the County Road T intersection, was closed Wednesday.

“They’re closing that down and they’re going to start grading and then start installing culverts,” Dodge County Highway Superintendent Alan Doll said.

Ultimately, the project will widen the right-of-way and pave the road.

Doll said the road, currently graveled, has been a maintenance headache for the county, which recently imposed a five-ton limit between 23rd Street and County Road T to reduce wear and tear.

Luxa Construction of Blair is the general contractor for the $1.214 million project. It is scheduled to be completed this fall.
