SCRIBNER -- Carl E. Roberts, 70, of Scribner died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, in Dunklau Gardens, Fremont.
He was born to Leonard and Irma (Hillman) Roberts in Ida Grove, Iowa, on Sept. 28, 1947. He grew up there and graduated from high school in 1965. Then he went into the United States Navy, serving 3 ½ years. Following military service, he attended and graduated with a business degree from the Spencer School of Business in Grand Island.
Carl worked for Pizza Hut as a manager for many years, and when he left the company he was an area supervisor. Then he ran his own chocolate and candy shop in Fremont until becoming a distributor for the Omaha World-Herald in Fremont.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Roberts of Lincoln; daughter, Carla Jo (Mike) Meyer of Hooper; six grandchildren, Sonya, Sylvia, Jared, Austin, Riley, and Marinn; one great-granddaughter, Ember; brother, Roger (Carolyn) Roberts of Fayetteville, Georgia; and sister, Kathleen (Frank) Janssen of Woodbury, Minnesota.
The memorial service will be Friday at 6 p.m. at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with military honors to follow at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 4 p.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for distribution.
