OMAHA - Darryl S. Peitzmeier, 54, of Omaha passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at his home.
Darryl was born Jan. 25, 1963, in Fremont to Melvin and Lydia Peitzmeier. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1981 and excelled in football, baseball, and basketball. After high school he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Darryl was employed by Konica - Minolta as a medical account executive.
Darryl played football for UNO Mavericks as a strong safety from 1981 until 1985. He was a part of the 1983 and 1984 North Central Conference Title teams. Darryl enjoyed spending time golfing, cooking, running, listening to country music and attending concerts. Darryl will be inducted into the 2018 Fremont High School Hall of Fame for his accomplishments.
Darryl is survived by his son, Taylor Peitzmeier of Omaha; two daughters, Haley of Denver and Sydney Peitzmeier of Elkhorn, and their mother, Michelle (Schmidt) Peitzmeier; mother, Lydia Peitzmeier of Omaha; brother, Brian (Jennifer) Peitzmeier of Centennial, Colorado; sisters, Wanda Schmitz, Lori Anderson and Dawn (Bill) Vrtiska, all of Omaha; nephews, Ryan and Jackson Peitzmeier, Blake Anderson, Nicholas Fernholz, Austin and Alex Schmidt, and Ryan Kerwin; and nieces, Lindsey Anderson, Kristin Schmitz, Brittany Nissen, Miranda Janisch, Lizette and Camryn Lopez.
He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin; and grandparents, Joseph (Rose) Peitzmeier and Steven (Mary) Kalisek.
The memorial mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont with Rev. Eliot Schwer officiating. Followed by a Celebration of Life at Fremont Golf Club. Family receiving friends will be Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
