Edward G. Beaumont, 80, of Snyder died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.
Edward Glen Beaumont was born on Sept. 7, 1932, in Snyder to Glen and Milada (Janecek) Beaumont. He was a 1950 graduate of Snyder High School. He served in the U.S. Army (999th Armored Field Artillery Battalion) from 1953 to 1955, and in the Army Reserves until 1961.
He started working at Hormel Foods Corp. in Fremont in 1955, retiring in 1994. He then worked at Tek Industries from 1995 to 2004. Edward was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder, and a member of the Snyder VFW Post 8439.
Survivors include: Son, Darrell (and wife, Julie) Beaumont of Hooper; daughters – Brenda (and husband, Charles) Atherton of Pennsylvania, Diane (and husband, Chris) Simpson of Florida, Penny (and husband, Ted) Daberkow of Ames, Lisa Aufenkamp of Fremont, Peggy (and husband, Travis) Porter of Fremont and Senta Wuestawald of Fremont; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Ann (and husband, Bob) Hallowell of Fremont; and brother, Gary (and wife, Cindy) Beaumont of Omaha.
The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder with the Rev. Donald Cleary officiating. Committal will follow in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Dodge with military honors by Snyder VFW Post 8439. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with family receiving friends 4-7 p.m. and a vigil at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Leo’s Catholic Church and the Snyder Fire Department.
