SCRIBNER — James A. Hruska, age 77, of Scribner passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at Orchard Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Valley.

James was born in Prague on June 12, 1940, to Marie (Sloup) and Louis Hruska. He attended and graduated in 1958 from St. Patrick’s High School in Fremont. James then enlisted in the United States Army. After his time in the service, James worked for the railroad for a number of years. He then took a position as the City of Fremont’s Horticulturist where he remained until his retirement in 2002.

Preceded in death by: parents, Marie (Sloup) and Louis Hruska; brother, infant Louis; and brother-in-law, Gary Conklin.

Survived by: sisters, Ann Conklin of Ohio, Rose (Robert) Nelson of Omaha and Julie Kulhanek of Omaha; brothers, Dan (Paula) Hruska of Chicago and John (Linda) Hruska of Omaha; nieces and nephews, Scott (Chris) Nelson of Omaha, Tom (Theresa) Nelson of Yankton, South Dakota, Bryan Kulhanek of Omaha, Paula (Adrian) Dreessen of Elkhorn, Bridgette (Tom) Dempsey of Ohio, Kevin (Sarah) Nelson of Omaha and Marie (Lauren) Hildebrandt of Alaska; and many other friends and family.
