Keith A. Meier, 98, of Arlington passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Fremont Health Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1919, in Oxford to Albert and Minnie (Drew) Meier.
He moved to Arlington in 1926. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942-1945 during World War II and was stationed in England, North Africa and Italy. He married Maxine Fagerquist on Sept. 8, 1946, in Marysville, Kansas. He worked most of his adult life for Marshall Nurseries near Arlington as a Production Manager, retiring in 1981. He then worked part time for several more years.
Keith was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington, a church elder, and held several offices. He was a member of Lutheran Laymen’s League and Arlington VFW Post 8332. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, fishing, and working with his trees.
Survived by his wife, Maxine; son, Larry Meier of Arlington; daughters, Lana (Rod) Warner of Lincoln, Mary (Roger) Chisholm; brother, Willard (June) Meier, all of Arlington; sister-in-law, Peg Meier of Plattsmouth; grandchildren, Joel (Fiona) Meier, Stacie Witherspoon, Nathan (Jamie) Meier, Christy (Brian) Fink, Bruce (Jill) Carden, Ryan (Adriana) Carden; stepgrandchildren, Angie (Jeremy) Adams, Kim (Ron) Tucker, Jeff Warner, Dawn (Matt) Updike, Donna Daubert, Regina (Jeff) Wagner; 28 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alberta Callahan (Myron); and brother, Monford Meier.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington. The Rev. Jason Duley will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 14, from 4-8 p.m. and family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., all at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington.
Burial with military honors will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
