Larry D. Fauss, 68, of Wahoo died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, in Wahoo.

He was born Aug. 26, 1942, in Omaha to Lloyd and Charlotte Anderson Fauss. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1964 with a degree in journalism.

Fauss taught journalism and English at North Platte High School, taught journalism and world history at Lincoln Southeast High School, worked in public relations at Central Telephone & Utilities in Lincoln, then later at UNL division of continuing studies. Fauss also served for many years as public relations director for the Nebraska Coaches Association, and was a public information officer for the Nebraska Public Service Commission from 2002 to 2009. Fauss was owner/publisher of the Wahoo Newspaper from 1985 to 1989, and also was a journalist for the Fremont Tribune, the Lincoln Journal, the Omaha World-Herald, the North Platte Telegraph and the David City Banner-Press.

In politics, he managed Congressman Doug Bereuter's Lincoln office for six years and served as a legislative aide for Nebraska state legislator Curt Bromm. Fauss also served on the Wahoo Board of Education. To help students learn about civics and government, Fauss helped establish, then coordinated Wahoo High School's Close Up program for 28 years.

Survivors include: his mother, Charlotte (Anderson) Fauss, Lincoln; three brothers and their wives, David and Ann, Roseburg, Ore., John and Bonnie, Tulsa, Okla., Richard and Christine, Louisburg, Kan.; two nieces; three nephews; 10 cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1610 S. 11th St. in Lincoln. Private inurnment at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln.
