Maxine A. Richter, 92 years, of Fremont passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Nye Pointe Health in Fremont. She was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Colome, South Dakota, to Nels and Jessie (Hurlbert) Cornelius. Her father worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and the family lived in Arlington, Wahoo, Fremont and Morse Bluff. She was a graduate of Morse Bluff High School. Maxine was a waitress in Fremont. She married Leo Richter on July 10, 1945, at First Baptist Church in Fremont.
Maxine was member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont. She devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother.
Maxine is survived by sons, James Richter of Overland Park, Kansas, Jeffrey (Sharon) Richter of Fremont, and Daniel Richter of Flint, Michigan; daughters, Kimberly (Michael) Siedell of Waverly and Kathleen (Richard) Landis of Ashland; brother, Wayne (Hannah) Cornelius of Fremont; sister, Jessie Ann (Ray) Waterman of Scottsdale, Arizona; eight grandsons; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Gloria Richter; brothers, Jim and Elmer Cornelius; sisters, Marion Nelson and Dorothy Bednarz; grandson, Ross Richter; and great-granddaughter, Amanda Richter.
The funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Michael McGregor will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and continues on Saturday one hour prior to service. Burial at Memorial Cemetery, Fremont. Memorials may be given to Children’s Hospital in Omaha or the American Cancer Society.
