FREMONT — Phyllis M. Ruzicka, 92 years, of Fremont died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at Nye Legacy in Fremont. Phyllis was born June 19, 1925, in Colon to William and Helena (Scott) Dwyer.
She grew up in Colon and was a graduate of Fremont High School. Phyllis married Raymond C. Ruzicka on Feb. 27, 1946, in Colon. The couple farmed near Colon until moving to Fremont in the mid-1980s. Raymond died Oct. 18, 2009. Phyllis enjoyed quilting, adult coloring books and loved flowers.
Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and a past member of St. Mathew Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs.
She is survived by daughters, Sharron Ankersen of Colon and Dianna Noonan of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Carrie (Matt) Beacom, Heather (Roger) Johnson, Candie (Rick) Erickson, Adam (Lynne) Ankersen, Caylie (Brooks) Rash; 13 great-grandchildren, Denton, Sierra, Maelee, Matson and Kelton Beacom, Josie and Brody Johnson, Teagan and Brennan Jacobs, Graham and Grant Ankersen, Kyson and Kolton Rash; and sister-in-law, Helen Ruzicka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Shirley Hill; brother, Leo Dwyer; son-in-law, David Ankersen; brothers-in-law, Donald, Robert, Ed, George and Charles Ruzicka; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Brandt and Dorothy Horeis.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Dan Heuer and the Rev. Mark Weber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont, and to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Cedar Bluffs.
