The Fremont Area Association of Retired School Personnel spends countless hours every year in service and volunteerism to our communities which are represented by our membership. As the year comes to an end, I would like to recognize and thank the members for the generosity and work with year ending projects. Countless hours were spent gathering necessary items and packing 200 Christmas bags for the 110 veterans in Fremont care centers. The other 90 bags were distributed to the four State Veterans Homes in Nebraska by the Disables American Veterans chapter in Fremont. Thanks guys for your service and help. As this is a very large project for us, this year we reached out to students at Grant, Howard and Washington elementary schools for part of the project. Our Christmas bags provide a bag of candy with all the other items. Students at these schools were asked if they would be willing to donate part of their Halloween candy to the veterans program. Because of the generosity of our members and these students, we were able to pack the 200 bags of candy needed for Christmas and another 425 bags for our upcoming veterans Valentine's Day project. We hope to invite the other schools to help honor our veterans with their participation for next years projects. Thank you again to all members of FAARSP for their support and dedication to our projects, community and great state. Also thank you to the students and administration of the three schools we worked with this year. All of you helped make many veterans very happy this season.
