Does anyone remember the old TV show "Car 54 Where Are You?" That keeps coming to mind when I see what the Fremont City Council and Don Petersen & Assoc. are putting over on us and our children and so few people in Fremont voice outrage.
With no regard for the safety of our children, they are planning a convenience store and multi-family housing out by the Middle School. Remember this isn't the only vulnerable children out there as there is also Johnson Crossing. Every public school student in this town will eventually be attending those schools.
The traffic there is already horrific and will increase dramatically with the increase in population from the new housing developments: Duke Estates, Gallery 23 and Sun Ridge Place. It doesn't take a rocket scientist nor $10,000 study to know about the traffic in that corridor now and to come. With the proposed Sun Ridge Place alone, the number of people going in all directions for jobs at the same time school children are walking, biking and being driven to that area will add to the dangerous nightmare.
People of Fremont, attend the City Council meetings and let them know the safety of our children is more important than the financial profit to be made by a few. The next meeting is March 13 at 7 p.m. at the city offices, 400 East Military, 2nd floor.
