To the City Council of Fremont,
As you are aware, I have been opposed to the SunRidge development that is proposed for east Military Avenue. There have already been several steps taken to push this project along and there are more steps on the horizon.
I would urge you to stop at this time and ponder this project and its overall impact on the city. For many years the residents of this area have been promised and are expecting an expansion of Day Acres. The plan presented by the developers done in 2004 has many references to Day Acres II. The area in question is one of single family homes, parks, schools, and churches. To put a high density, low income housing project and a convenience store in the middle of this neighborhood is NOT in the best interest of the city nor its residents.
I don't have to go over all the reasons why this project is wrong, you've heard them at the Council meetings. But you nonetheless as a group keep approving the steps being taken by the developer. Many citizens have shown up at the meetings and many more have voiced their opposition to the development and the Council goes ahead at each opportunity to stop this and approves. The developer is not being open nor honest about the intentions for the area and the taxpayers of Fremont are going to have to pay dearly for this poorly conceived and poorly planned adventure.
I urge you to please listen to your conscience and vote against this project and vote for the benefit of the many people who will have to live with the harmful results of this project for years to come. At the least you should take a moment and consider the safety of our children. Please take the time to understand that there are much more important considerations than the owners of the plot and the developers making millions of dollars at the citizen's expense. Thank you for your time.
