Thanksgiving and Christmas are over and we can all look forward to a new year. Again this year we held our Fremont Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Midland University. The dinner is served to all in the community who have nowhere to go or who just want to enjoy others in the community.
This year, as always, we served a great number of people and had a great time with all. It is really great to spend time with all of the people and especially the volunteers.
To organize this dinner, we need a couple of things. One of which is donations. These come from the businesses in the Fremont area. It is a great feeling that we can count on these businesses year after year. They step up to the plate every year to help their community. Great job, and thank you.
The other important part of this dinner is our volunteers. It is our absolute please to work with so many who are willing to give up their time on their Thanksgiving to serve others. There is a committee that works for several weeks prior to the dinner that secures donations and plan for the dinner. Then there are the large number of volunteers who help prepare and serve the meal. This starts the day before with cooking staples for the meal and picking up the food donations.
Once everything is put together, volunteers serve the meal. One of the best groups of volunteers are the ones that are willing to come in and help with the clean up after the meal.
Every year it all gets put together and cleaned up with great volunteers and donations from the Fremont area.
Please offer a big thank you to all businesses and volunteers that you may run into and especially Midland University. For without them, this dinner would not be possible.
From Pam and I, and the Thanksgiving Dinner Committee, thank you to all!
