KLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Leilani Camargo-Naone of Midland University finished second at the wrestling national championships on Saturday.
The sophomore from Hawaii earned All-American honors at the 191-pound class.
She opened with a pin over Maranda Dornan of Ottawa and then beat Darcie Manning-O'Brien of Missouri Baptist 12-2. She then pinned No. 4 Kaitlyn Hill of Campbellsville in 2:45 of the quarterfinals and No. 1 Payten Smith of Simon Fraser in the semifinals.
Camargo-Naone, ranked fifth, lost 10-0 to Grays Harbor's Paige Baynes, who came into the event ranked second. Baynes was not scored on in the tournament.
