Midland University senior Exavier Edwards has been named to the All-Great Plains Athletic Conference Football Team.
Edwards, a starting cornerback for the Warriors, was recognized for his play as a kick returner. He averaged 27.6 yards on 26 kickoff returns. He ran two kickoffs back for touchdowns — both against Dordt.
Edwards was the lone first-team selection for the Warriors, who finished 6-4 overall and finished tied for fourth in the league. He was also a second-team selection at cornerback.
Several Warriors earned second team and honorable mention recognition.
Daniel Jahn, a sophomore lineman from Omaha, was named to the second-team offense.
Other Midland players that joined Edwards on the second-team defense include linebackers Bryan McLaughlin and Wyatt Tremayne and linebacker/defensive back Taylor Syvertsen.
Tremayne, a junior from Homer, was tied for fifth in the GPAC with 80 total tackles. McLaughlin, a senior from Elkhorn, was tied for 11th with 70. Syvertsen, a senior from Murrieta, California, had 27 tackles and two interceptions.
Honorable mention picks for Midland included receivers Malik Deumetz, Hayden Dunn and Mike Seawell, offensive lineman Alex Boyer, defensive back Ashton Ellis, defensive back Mikal Coleman and Garry Cannon, who started the season at quarterback before shifting to running back.
