CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Maddie Egr led Midland University with 22 points as the Lady Warriors downed Mount Mercy 78-57 on Saturday in women’s basketball.
Midland only led 20-17 after the first quarter, but outscored Mount Mercy 24-12 in the second quarter and 19-9 in the third to improve to 5-4.
Joelle Overkamp added 13 points, four steals and three rebounds as 11 players scored for MU. Amanda Hansen contributed eight points.
Megan Kucks dished out six assists as Midland shot 50.8 percent from the field. Makenna Sullivan had a team-best five steals as the Midland defense forced 33 Mount Mercy turnovers.
Aurianna Hampton led the Mustangs with 14 points. She was the lone Mount Mercy player in double figures as Nyawal Dak finished with nine points and four rebounds. Audrey Mulumba had three assists and five rebounds.
Midland will return to Great Plains Athletic Conference play against Doane, 4-5, at 6 Wednesday night in Crete. On Saturday, the Lady Warriors travel to Sioux City, Iowa, to play Morningside.
