Midland University ignored the cold and blustery conditions to pick up a Senior Day victory in women’s lacrosse Sunday at Heedum Field.
The Lady Warriors broke to a 15-4 lead in the first half and went on to defeat the University of Dallas 19-8. The Lady Warriors improve to 4-5 overall while Dallas falls to 0-8.
Prior to the win, Midland honored its lone senior, Tessa Singleton. The Pierre, S.D., native earned the victory in goal as she stopped five shots in 60 minutes of action.
Riley Yanek scored seven goals on the day, six coming in the first 30 minutes of action to lead MU. She posted a team-high 13 shots with 11 being on goal. Masey Jay and Megan Collins contributed four goals apiece.
Midland dominated the possession and doubled-up Dallas in shots by a count of 39-18. The Warriors had 30 of those shots on goal while their opponent had just 13.
Midland will host Benedictine, 7-1, at 4:30 Tuesday afternoon at Heedum. The game, rescheduled from Saturday, will be the final home game of the season for MU.
