Midland University placed five players on the 2017 All-Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s soccer team.
“It is a credit to the hard work and dedication these guys put in all season,” Midland coach Raphael Martinez said. “We are lucky to have all of them back next year and we will look forward to their continued success.”
The Warriors finished 11-8 overall, including 6-3 in the GPAC. They placed fourth in the league standings.
Hastings College, who won the GPAC regular season and postseason titles, had the offensive and defensive players of the year in Daniel Whitehall and Joe White.
MU’s James Kilburn, a sophomore from Liverpool, England, was named to the first team as a midfielder while teammate Robert Wiseman, a junior from Omaha was selected to the second team as a forward.
Kilburn served as the captain for Midland.. He had one goal and three assists from his mostly defensive position.
Wiseman led the Warriors with eight goals, including five game-winners. He also chipped in one assist.
Cesar Cuellar, Aurel Mabou and Jorge Paz each received honorable mention honors.
