SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Morningside remained perfect in the Great Plains Athletic Conference on Saturday by defeating Midland 86-77 in women's basketball.
The game was tied at 39 at halftime, but the Mustangs took a 68-57 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Megan Kucks' free throw with 2:55 left in the game cut the deficit to 77-73, but MU couldn't get any closer.
Joelle Overkamp led Midland, 6-5 overall and 1-3 in the GPAC, with 17 points. Makenna Sullivan added 15 while Kucks and Maddie Egr finished with 12 each. Amanda Hansen had 10 points and six assists. Egr finished with a team-best 11 rebounds.
Sydney Hupp led Morningside, 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the league, with 21 points. Madison Braun added 18.
MU hosts Briar Cliff at 6 Wednesday night in the Wikert Event Center.
