BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – PT Perez scored both goals to power the Midland University women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over 16th-ranked Baker on Saturday.
The win improves MU to 5-1 while the Wildcats, who reached the NAIA tournament semifinals in 2016, fall to 0-2-2.
Rachel Thigpen had four saves for the Lady Warriors.
Perez had goals in the 40th and 86th minutes. The latter was assisted by Marisa Martinez.
“The girls showed a great amount of heart going against a team that was in the Final Four a year ago,” MU coach Greg Jarosik said. “We have gotten results this year against some top-ranked teams. Hopefully this type of win will propel us as we prepare for (Great Plains Athletic Conference) play.”
Midland will host Grace University at 7 Wednesday night at Heedum Field.
