WEST POINT — North Bend earned a berth in the Class C-1 state volleyball tournament by defeating Wayne 25-17, 25-22, 25-17 on Saturday in the C1-4 district final at West Point-Beemer High School.

West Virginia recruit Kristin Lux led the way for the Tigers with 13 kills and three solo blocks. Sophomore Lauren Emanuel finished with seven kills and five blocks. Midland University recruit Brooke Fredrickson had six kills, two aces and two blocks.

Setter Kaitlynn Bjorklund distributed 30 set assists while sophomore Megan Ortmeier had six kills.

Shania Anderson had six kills and three blocks for Wayne. Lauren Pick finished with five kills and Emily Armstrong contributed four.

After rolling to a win in the first set, the Tigers found themselves tied at 17 with the Blue Devils in the second. Ortmeier, however, delivered a kill and an ace to put the Tigers up 21-18.

Wayne pulled to within 24-22 before Fredrickson ended it with a kill.

North Bend trailed 14-13 in the third, but then went on a 12-3 run to end the match.

The Tigers are the fourth seed for the C-1 tournament. They will play fifth-seeded Malcolm at 3:30 Thursday at Lincoln North Star
