Several Fremont residents captured medals recently at the 2017 Cornhusker State Games.

Mandy Long was first in the women’s 40-44 100-yard freestyle swim. She also won the 200-yard freestyle.

Chris Johannesen won the 3D Unmarked Yardage/Female Silver Senior Freestyle gold medal in archery. Brad Johannesen was first in the 3D Unmarked Yardage/ Male Silver Senior Freestyle Division.

In the Male Senior Freestyle Archery Division, Michael Fricke captured two silvers (Indoor 450 Round and Target High Score). He also earned three bronze medals (3D Unmarked Yardage, 600 Round and 750 Round).

Les Johnson won the first flight of the Senior Men’s Adult Stroke Play event. Jeff Sawyer took top honors in the second flight of the Open Men’s Division.

Harriet Bloemker took top honors in the Women’s 85-89 Division in the discus and the javelin.

In wrestling, Cade Arps won five medals. He won a gold in the age 11-13, 98-107-pound division. He also was second in that freestyle division. In the 12-14, 100-107-pound class, he was second in scholastic and was third in the Greco. He was also second in 13-15, 103-106-pound takedown division.

Tommy Wentz won the scholastic 13-14, 146-154-pound division. He was second in Greco (12-14) and in Beach. He also earned a silver in the takedown division. Talon Mues was second in the scholastic 17-19, 135-146-pound class.

Alex Sasse was second in the female 14-and-under division of the 5K road race. Don Thielen (Men’s 40-44 10K swim) and Anthony Goetz (part of the men’s 49-and-under 400-meter relay) also earned silver medals.

Emily Adelgren tied for third in the Women’s Doubles 4.0 Pickleball event.
