BELLEVUE -- Scottsbluff’s Kaitlyn Krzyzanowski defeated Papillion’s Kayla Barnes, 3 and 1 on Wednesday in the 2017 NWAGA Match Play Championship at the Bellevue Golf Club.
Krzyzanowski came in as the No. 2 seed, after shooting a 78 in stroke play qualifying on Monday. Barnes, who won the 2009 title as Kayla Knopik, was the No. 1 seed following an even-par 73.
Barnes survived her first round match in 18 holes, winning 1 up, but cruised in her next two matches, winning 7 and 6 in the quarterfinals and 4 and 3 in the semifinals over Snyder’s Hannah Hunke.
Krzyzanowski also pulled out a close win in the first round, winning in 19 holes, before closing out her next three matches on the 17th hole.
Bellevue’s Jean Gamerl defeated North Platte’s Barb Baldridge 3 and 1 in the first flight final. In the second flight final, it was Bellevue’s Shelly Miratsky downing Giltner’s Peggy Hinrichs 5 and 4.
