Jeree Menning of Fremont Therapy & Wellness was recently inducted into the Iowa Softball Hall of Fame.
The former Jeree Carlson was a three-time all-state selection at Sioux City East from 1989-92. She enjoyed her best season as a sophomore as she was named the Class 2A Pitcher of the Year. She finished 27-4 with a 0.26 ERA and a state-best 343 strikeouts.
She followed her sophomore year with 396 strikeouts as a junior and 332 as a senior.
Menning then went on to Morningside in Sioux City where she became one of the school’s most decorated players. She won 32 games as a senior and captured NCAA Division II All-American honors. She also led the nation in strikeouts.
Menning set school records for earned run average, strikeouts in a career and strikeouts in a season for the Mustangs. She was invited to the Olympic softball trials in 1996.
