Five former champions are among the field of 130 golfers for the 109th Nebraska Amateur Championship, which begins Thursday at the Beatrice Country Club.
The championship features four rounds of stroke play. This will be the first championship to feature a weekend finish since 2012.
The field includes Fremonter Andy Sajevic, who won the championship in 2010, 2011 and 2013 -- the last coming at ArborLinks in Nebraska City. Andy's father, John, who won in 1989, is also in the field.
Defending champion Alex Schaake, a graduate of Omaha Creighton Prep, is also back. Other former champions competing include 2002 winner Ryan Nietfeldt and 2008 champion Jayson Brueggemann of Beatrice.
Nebraska Match Play champion Jay Cottam also is expected to compete.
Play begins at 8 p.m. each day.
