The Fremont Cross Country Club conducted a dual with Arlington for athletes that are middle-school aged on Friday at Clemmons Park.
Fremont runners earned the top-four places in the girls’ 2,000-meter race. Eighth-grader Elli Dahl led the way in 7:24.8. Sixth-grader Britt Prince (7:33.4), eighth-grader Taylor McCabe (7:41.2) and sixth-grader Maris Dahl (8:16.8) were the next three finishers.
Arlington’s top finisher was Alaina Schwedhelm. The eighth-grader was fifth in 9:22.3.
Other Fremont top-10 finishers, include: Jarexy Vega Vega, a seventh-grader, sixth in 9:23.6; Mattie Dalton, a fifth-grader, seventh in 9:28.3; Ella Cooper, a seventh-grader, eighth in 9:34.1; Avry LaFavor, an eighth-grader, ninth in 9:41.2; and Mia Wagner, an eighth-grader, 10th in 9:41.9.
Sixth-grader Austyn Flesner of Arlington was 20th in 10:57.3. Teammate Charlie Lambert, a seventh-grader, placed 21st in 11:03.6.
Fremont nabbed the top six places in the boys’ race.
Carter Waters led the way in 7:28. Fellow eighth-graders Braden Taylor (7:29) and Hazem Santos (7:37) were second and third, respectively.
Fifth-grader Noah Miller was fourth in 7:44 while eighth-grader Aaron Ladd was fifth (7:45). Sixth-grader Mikey Saxton was sixth (7:51).
Colby Grefe of Arlington was seventh in 7:52. Two other Arlington eighth-graders — Lucas O’Daniel (8:05) and Barret Nielsen (8:07) — were ninth and 10th, respectively.
Seventh-grader Coulter Fritz of Fremont was eighth in 7:57.
