The Fremont Middle School junior varsity girls' basketball team split its first two games of the season.

The Tigers fell 30-15 on Thursday to Russell Middle School. Ella Cooper, Gracie Herman and Mackenzie Kinning had four points each. Grace Williams had two while Emmalee Sheppard contributed one.

Williams was the top rebounder with 10 and Cooper had seven.

On Tuesday night, Cooper hit two free throws with .5 seconds left to lift the Tigers to a 22-20 victory.

Kinning led Fremont with nine points while Tania Gleason finished with six. Emma Sorensen, Cooper and Herman had two each. Williams added one.

The Tigers are back in action at 4 Thursday afternoon at FMS against Kiewet Middle School.
