The Fremont Soccer Club U17G Pumas won the championship recently at the ALDI All-Girls Invitational in Overland Park, Kansas.

The Pumas finished 3-1 in their division. About 600 teams competed in various divisions at the event.

The Pumas opened the tournament with a 1-0 loss to the FCKC Fulham from Overland Park. The Pumas outshot Fulham 20-2, but came up short.

Madisen Manning had seven shots while Wylie Roumph and Lucy Dillon were also offensive leaders. Alexis Greser and Dahlia Hernandez led the defense.

Manning had two goals to lead the Pumas to a 4-0 win over WFC Lady Jaguars of Overland Park. Manning scored in the 15th minute and added a second goal in the 30th on a cross by Isabella Keaton.

Dillon scored in the first minute of the second half while Georgia Witte added the team’s fourth goal. Emma Grosse, Gabi Magana and Brooke Carsterns were also offensive leaders. Alyssa Grosse and Alex Lamme sparked the defense.

The Pumas edged the Kansas Elite Valencia of Wichita, Kansas, 2-1 on a late goal by Georgia Witte.

Isabelle Smoot scored on a penalty kick in the 22nd minute. Valencia would tie the match before Jaeden Greser had a free kick that found Witte. Her header put the Pumas ahead for good.

Emma Witte and Madeline Jones were also offensive leaders while Lauren Wolfe and Amelia Knosp anchored the defense.

The Pumas closed the tournament with a 2-0 win over Ames U17 Navy from Ames, Iowa.

Georgia Witte’s goal in the first half put the Pumas up 1-0. Smoot finished the scoring in the 65th minute.

FCKC tied its last match giving the Pumas their division championship.

Knosp and Jaeden Greser were defensive leaders for the Pumas. Hernandez, Jones and Alexis Greser were also key contributors. Manning, Dillon and Georgia Witte were offensive leaders. Smoot, Keaton, Emma Witte and Jones also made key contributions.

Troy Brown is the head coach of the Pumas while Chad Jensen serves as the assistant.
