SEWARD -- Trinity Lutheran finished 2-1 and won the Class B consolation championship recently at the C-Club State Tournament at Concordia University.
The tournament marked the final games in the careers for eighth-graders Ben Menking, Grant Hevlin and Matthew Ondracek.
The Panthers lost 30-21 to Madison.
Trevor Denker led Trinity with 12 points and eight rebounds. Cade Podany had four points, seven rebounds and two steals. Menking added three points, six rebounds and two blocked shots. Jack Bang finished with two points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Menking had 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 54-27 win over the Seward "B" squad.
Denker added 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists while Bang had 13 points and two steals.
Podany had two points and a team-best 14 rebounds. Dalton Newcomer finished with two points.
The Panthers also beat the Columbus "B" squad 34-20.
Bang had nine points and four rebounds. Menking and Newcomer had eight points each while Denker had seven points and seven rebounds. Jacob Knudsen contributed two points. Podany led the team with 14 rebounds.
