First State Bank & Trust Company will celebrate Ronald C. Weaklend on Friday with a retirement coffee from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the main location, 1005 E. 23rd St. Weaklend will be retiring after 35 years at First State Bank & Trust Company.
Weaklend started with First State Bank & Trust in 1982 as Assistant Vice President-Loan Officer. He was promoted to Vice President in 1985, Vice President-Senior Lending Officer in 1990, Senior Vice President-Senior Lending Officer in 1997, and Executive Vice President - Head of Lending in 2008. He was named to the Board of Directors in 2017. Additionally, Weaklend served as a board member of Banker’s Title Insurance of Nebraska.
Weaklend has been an instructor for the American Institute of Banking. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education and completed the Graduate School of Banking at Boulder, Colorado.
Weaklend is a member of the Fremont Optimist Club. He has also served as chairman of the Greater Fremont Development Council and board member and past chief volunteer officer of the Fremont Family YMCA. He serves on the Fremont Family YMCA Foundation Board of Directors as the treasurer. Weaklend and his wife, Cindy, have three sons, Matt (Stacy), Jeff (Jaime) and Tom (Crystal), and five grandchildren. They belong to First Lutheran Church of Fremont.
