PERU – Two students with Cass County connections filled roles on the Peru State College Homecoming Court this past weekend.
Nicole Osborn and Julia Zurek were both members of the Homecoming Court. All Homecoming Court members took part in the annual Homecoming Parade that traveled through Peru on the morning of Oct. 28. They then appeared in the coronation ceremony that took place at halftime of that afternoon’s home football game.
Osborn was crowned Homecoming Queen at the coronation ceremony. She is a senior from Omaha who is majoring in K-12 music education. She currently holds leadership positions in concert chorale, women’s choir, Prestige show choir and the Christian Student Fellowship group. She is also the worship arts team leader at One Life Church in Plattsmouth.
Zurek is a sophomore from Louisville. She filled a role as a sophomore representative on the Homecoming Court. Omaha native Spencer Kerwin was the school’s other sophomore representative in the group.
Zurek was an Academic All-State student at Louisville who has earned recognition on the Peru State Dean’s List. She is a member of the school’s cross country team and improved her times throughout the fall season. She also holds a leadership position in the Christian Student Fellowship group.
