MURRAY – Dozens of area residents enjoyed a mud-soaked Fourth of July at one of the spotlight events of the Murray Freedom Festival.
Participants from across eastern Nebraska came to Young Park in Murray for the annual Murray Freedom Festival Oozeball Tournament. The mud volleyball event featured 20 teams and took place on three outdoor courts. Teenagers and adults all took part in matches during the day.
Murray Freedom Festival volunteers began watering the courts July 3 and resumed their preparations the morning of July 4. They soaked the playing surfaces with additional water during the day to ensure a muddy adventure for all participants.
All players were required to wear shoes and appropriate clothing for the tournament. They were able to use a portable shower station to rinse away mud after they had finished.
