MURDOCK – Elmwood-Murdock students shared plenty of smiles Saturday afternoon as they secured diplomas on the school stage.
Thirty-six seniors participated in the district’s commencement ceremony in the high school gym. They took part in an event that featured songs, speeches, flower presentations, recognition of honor graduates and the awarding of diplomas. A large crowd gathered in the gym to watch the commencement.
Alice Richter delivered the salutatory address and Katrina Hansen presented the valedictory address. Both seniors were recognized for earning high academic distinction during their high school careers. Tess Arent, Riley Backemeyer, Josiah Clements, Payton Frahm, Karly Mellen, Paige Mortimer and Kabrianna Mumford were all honored for achieving academic distinction.
Members of the Elmwood-Murdock Concert Choir sang “Rivers and Roads” for the crowd, and the Elmwood-Murdock Concert Band performed “Disney Spectacular Band” for audience members. Seniors then presented flowers to family, friends and other loved ones before they received their diplomas.
