PLATTSMOUTH – The Journal Sports Editor and Assistant Editor Brent Hardin became Journal Managing Editor on Monday. Hardin is assuming managerial duties from Patti Jo Peterson, who stepped down from the newspaper on Friday, April 6. Peterson had been managing editor at The Journal for the past 15 years.

Hardin has been sports editor at The Journal since October 2005. He said he was thrilled to keep his current sports and education coverage duties with the newspaper. The Journal’s coverage area includes the school districts of Conestoga, Elmwood-Murdock, Louisville, Plattsmouth and Weeping Water.

“It was very important to me to be able to keep covering all of the students here in Cass County,” Hardin said. “It’s been a lot of fun to be able to meet so many good students, coaches and teachers at all of the local schools. I didn’t want to see those types of relationships end, so I’m very happy to have a chance to remain on the sports and education beats.”
